Who is Bhagwan Munisuvrata ?
20th tirthankara of Jainism
Munisuvrata, born in Rajgir (present-day Bihar, India) to King Sumitra and Queen Padmavati of the Ikshvaku dynasty, was the 20th Tirthankara in the Jain tradition. From an early age, he displayed a natural inclination toward compassion, restraint, and spiritual discipline.
Belonging to the Dvapara Yuga, he eventually renounced worldly life, leaving behind royal comforts to pursue the higher path of self-realization. Through deep meditation and ascetic practices, he attained Kevala Jnana (omniscience), becoming a revered teacher who guided countless beings toward liberation through the principles of non-violence, truth, and detachment.
Though situated in an ancient era long before recorded history, Munisuvrata holds a timeless place in the Jain spiritual lineage as a guide on the path to freedom from the cycle of birth and death.
